RMI is a global non-profit organization that focuses on deep decarbonization of the world’s most-polluting sectors, leading sustainability programs across five geographies: the U.S., India, China, the Global South, and cities. RMI has a 40-year history of advancing low and zero-carbon solutions, with an emphasis on vehicle efficiency and electrification. More recently, RMI has also sought to elevate the importance of critical transportation policies and practices to catalyze an electric, connected, and equitable transportation future to electrify passenger fleets, drive zero-emission freight, and build EV charging infrastructure. According to RMI’s Carbon Free Mobility Program, 70 million electric vehicles (EV) and a 20 percent reduction in vehicle miles traveled are needed in the United States by 2030 to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C RMI works closely with vehicle manufacturers, utilities, charging providers, and governments to equip policymakers and decision-makers with the technical knowledge to accelerate change.
