Plug In America is the voice of the EV consumer across the country. Its mission is to drive change to accelerate the shift to plug-in vehicles powered by clean, affordable, domestic electricity to reduce our nation’s dependence on petroleum, improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
EV Charging Challenge
PIA and other NEVCI signatories will work with the federal government to first, encourage an agency to set up the challenge, and second, help that agency outline criteria and eligibility in a way that most effectively leverages EV charging investments.
EV Charging in the Parks Challenge
PIA, other NEVCI signatories, and the private sector will work with a federal land management agency to first, encourage that agency to set up the challenge, and second, help that agency outline criteria and eligibility in a way that significantly increases electric transportation access to national and other parks. In addition to development of the challenge, PIA and other signatories/partners would help promote the challenge through events like Drive Electric Earth Day.
EV Access for Underserved Communities
PIA will work with NEVCI signatories and other partners to implement pilot projects focused on increasing affordable access to EVs and EV charging in underserved communities. An example could be a pilot project with PIA's Plugstar program that would work with used car dealerships to help low- to moderate-income individuals navigate the process of purchasing a used EV including available incentives. This would be coupled with other public and private entities working with local and state governments to find creative ways to make affordable, diverse, and reliable EV charging access available in the areas that the pilot project covers.
Federal resolutions recognizing National Drive Electric Week and Drive Electric Earth Day
PIA and other NEVCI signatories will work with a Congressional "champion" to pass a resolution for NDEW and DEED that is (in part) reflective of the guiding principles of the MOU.
