NRDC is determined to confront the central environmental challenge of our time, by cutting the dangerous carbon pollution that’s driving the climate crisis. That requires powering our transportation sector with increasingly zero-emission electricity. For over a decade, NRDC has played a lead role in advocating for policies that increase access EV charging infrastructure for light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles, especially in communities that have borne the brunt of tailpipe pollution. We work at the local, state, national, and international level to accelerate transportation electrification, advancing both standards that require industry to build and sell zero-emission cars, trucks, and buses, and complimentary policies that ensure consumers and fleets can acquire those vehicles and charge them where they live, work, and play. NRDC also pushes for laws, standards, and other policies that ensure electricity is generated from renewable resources and that EV charging supports the operation of the electric grid to the benefit of all utility customers.
NRDC is proud and excited to be part of the EV Charging Initiative, which brings together the right combination of infrastructure companies, vehicle manufacturers, electric utilities, labor unions, and other private and public stakeholders to install the infrastructure needed to meet our shared climate, air quality, equity, and job creation goals.
