Drive Clean Colorado serves as the ReCharge Coaches for the Denver Metro and South-Central Colorado regions through theColorado Energy Office and Regional Air Quality Council’s Charge Ahead Colorado (CAC) grant program. Charge Ahead Colorado provides funds for Level 2 and DC Fast Charging EV Stations across the State of Colorado. Since its inception in 2013, CAC has funded and installed over 1,300 charging stations in both rural and urban areas. Drive Clean Colorado works with applicants through three application rounds per year, including guiding them through the process of applying, reviewing applications, and helping to connect applicants with utilities and charging OEMs to support implementation plans. Today, CAC is focused on supporting charging projects in rural areas, areas of connection like scenic byways and park systems, multi-family housing locations, and workplaces.
Drive Clean Colorado manages the Drive Electric Colorado initiative in collaboration with the Colorado Energy Office and the ReCharge Colorado coaches from organizations statewide including CLEER, 4CORE, and Northern Colorado Clean Cities. This initiative provides EV education to Coloradoans across the state, including information about home and public charging, how to install home charging, what incentives exist, and more. Drive Electric Colorado is also part of Drive Electric USA, a project that engages individuals, utilities, legislators, dealerships, and others towards accelerating EV use throughout the United States. This includes identifying EV charging gaps and conducting gap analyses, working with partners to increase EVSE infrastructure, and demonstrating the ease of charging through educational events.
