Ceres is driving the transportation sector towards full electrification by engaging with companies and policymakers to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and advocate for policies needed to ensure a clean and equitable future. The Corporate Electric Vehicle Alliance (The Alliance), led by Ceres and founded in 2020, is a group of 28 companies focused on accelerating the transition to electric vehicles (EVs). It supports companies in making and achieving bold commitments to fleet electrification by loosely aggregating corporate demand for zero-emission vehicles and advocating for strong policies to expand the business case for the production of a diverse array of models to meet fleets’ needs, in addition to sharing best practices. The Alliance is helping drive vehicle electrification and charging solutions by collectively advocating for access to cost-effective charging infrastructure and flexible rates, strategically sited and widely available charging infrastructure, and technology interoperability and streamlined charging standards.

Ceres also assists businesses with sending a clear signal to auto and truck manufacturers, utilities, and policymakers that accelerating the transition to clean, electrified transportation and expanding access to charging infrastructure is critical to meeting customer demands. To support advocacy on charging infrastructure solutions and more, the Alliance released a first-ever set of cross-sectoral fleet electrification principles providing guidance on how key EV stakeholders can advance the commercial EV market. In addition, the Alliance recently released a business support letter calling on the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Transportation, and the General Services Administration to make charging interoperability a cornerstone of new federal EV infrastructure funding programs and plans to ensure open access to publicly funded EV infrastructure. Additionally, Ceres is actively supporting state policies that grow the market for ZEVs and charging infrastructure, including the Advanced Clean Fleet (ACF) rule in California. In 2021, Ceres helped coordinate fleet roundtable discussions on the draft rule, including fleet infrastructure deployment. We will continue working with Ceres members this year to advance an ambitious final ACF rule through continued dialogue with CA regulators.
