California Electric Transportation Coalition (CalETC) is a proud member of the National EV Charing Initiative. With an urgent need to scale up and broaden access to charging infrastructure to serve light-, medium-, and heavy-duty EVs, CalETC created and participated in the EV Charging Infrastructure Strike Force (Strike Force). The EV Strike Force is a private-public partnership committed to advancing accessible, equitable, and affordable electric infrastructure in California. In 2021 the Strike Force released a Job’s Assessment analyzing the workforce needed to build out sufficient charging infrastructure to support California’s transition to a fully zero-emission on-road vehicle fleet. The Strike Force manages two workgroups, the Funding and Finance Workgroup and Equity Workgroup, which will continue to push for funding to support an equitable EV charging infrastructure buildout.

CalETC is also working with the California utilities on a Regional Charging Network Initiative. The regional network supports the equitable build out of large charging depots along transportation corridors in California. California utilities are committing to collaborate in a Memorandum of Understanding, evaluating sites along corridors that are best suited, from an electric grid and cost perspective to large-scale EV charging for cars and trucks. The regional effort will also be evaluating how best to ensure a positive consumer experience with EV charging for car and truck drivers.

CalETC is committed to these tasks as a member of the National EV Charging Initiative, and we fully support the messaging behind this coalition.
