500,000 New Charging Stations? Let’s Keep Them Working!

What would you do if your EV’s charge was not enough to get home and you drive up to a charging station only to find that it does not work?

That’s why we founded ChargerHelp! We’re committed to making sure this doesn’t happen to you—or anyone else.  And that’s why we’re glad that the National EV Charging Initiative’s Guiding Principles recognizes that “To achieve mass adoption of EVs, drivers’ experience should meet or exceed what conventional vehicles offer in terms of convenience, reliability, ease of use, and cost.”

The Biden Administration has committed to install 500,000 new charging stations (EVSE).  What if on average 35 percent of them do not  function as intended? We must all agree that this would be detrimental to EV adoption.

ChargerHelp! has developed the first platform of its kind to quickly restore down charging stations.  Our hardware- and software-agnostic technology immediately connects service requests to our EVSE Technicians, who can deploy and fix most problems in 1-2 days. We’ve built out a comprehensive support protocol across all manufacturers and software providers, and with our emerging machine learning technology, support predictive analytics to further reduce station down time.

Keeping charging stations up and running also requires trained workers.  That’s why the occupation of EVSE Technician was created. EVSE Technicians service software and hardware, perform electronic repair and replacement, and gather the necessary data to improve station operability. They are committed to assuring drivers, charge hosts and network operators that chargers will have minimal downtime.

ChargerHelp! also applauds the Initiative for emphasizing that building and maintaining the 500,000 charging stations must “create inclusive economic growth and good jobs at good wages.”  Workforce Development is weaved into the fabric of our company.  We believe that operations and maintenance is an occupation that is perfect to support people transitioning from other industries, people from disadvantaged backgrounds and it has the capacity for fast occupational advancement.  ChargerHelp! sits at the intersection of workforce development, adult learning, and clean technology. We’re leveraging technology to remove barriers and enable economic mobility within all communities!

And, last but not least, we agree that a new level of collaboration is needed to ensure that the new charging ecosystem is safe and reliable.  We coordinate with our local Workforce and Safety Centers and create partnerships with organizations to train and hire from our local communities.  We also work closely with utility companies, EVSE manufacturers, charge hosts, network operators, broadband, and software providers to continuously improve our technology, skills and services.

ChargerHelp! is delighted to participate in the National EV Charging Summit.  We’re committed to working with other participants to get those stations built and keep them running.
